Casas vs Loredo: School Board Trustee Elections Set for Nov. 3

Voters will head to the polls Tuesday, Nov. 3, 2026, to decide on one school board trustee position in the upcoming general election.

Incumbents Lisa Montalvo, Katie Johnson and Juan Briones are running unopposed.

Nancy Loredo is seeking to unseat incumbent Gloria Casas in the only contested race for Place 5. Loredo recently retired from La Feria ISD after 32 years of serving as an eductator.

“I’m excited to announce my candidacy for School Board, Place 5,” Loredo said on Facebook. “I’m grateful for the opportunity to continue serving our students, families, staff, and community in a new way.

The positions on the ballot are Place 4, Place 5, Place 6 and Place 7. The candidates listed for the four positions are: Place 4: Lisa Montalvo, Place 5: Gloria Casas (incumbent) and Nancy Loredo, Place 6: Katie Johnson and Place 7: Juan Briones.

Casas was  first elected to the La Feria School Board in 1994 and comes with more than 30 years expreience.

“I have the same values and passion that I had 32 years ago, except I now have the 30 years of experience and connections to get closer to my personal goal for our students, teachers, and community,” Casas said on Facebook.

Key Election Dates

The deadline to register to vote in the Nov. 3 election is Monday, Oct. 5. The same date is also the deadline for the first campaign contributions report, which is due 30 days before Election Day.

Early voting begins Monday, Oct. 19, and continues through Friday, Oct. 30.

Candidates seeking to run as write-in candidates had until Friday, Aug. 21, to file a declaration of write-in candidacy.

Voters who plan to vote by mail must submit their applications by Friday, Oct. 23. The application must be received by the deadline, rather than merely postmarked by that date.
